Meet Mika Vines

Owner & Premier Event Consultant

Mika was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, migrating to Atlanta, GA mid-high school years. She lived in Ghana, West Africa in middle school.

Mika is a graduate of Emory University (Atlanta), with an MBA in Management from University of Phoenix.

She has a Wedding & Event Planning Certification from Georgia Perimeter College, and a Public Education Leadership Program Certificate from Harvard University Executive Business School (Boston).  She is also a certified Secondary English teacher and Administrator.

Mika found her passion for event planning while interning for an Atlanta record label's A&R and Marketing Departments.  She created MikaVines Productions (MVP) in 2003, working with some of Atlanta's most-known influencers, athletes, artists, and cornering brand marketing for products, such as Hpnotiq Liqueur.  In 2005 Mika added Wedding planning to her list of special event services. After over a decade in the professional world, Mika felt the void of not feeling connected to her undergrad classmates and having the advantages of the network her HBCU friends enjoyed. In an effort to create a similar feeling #BlackEmoryReunites emerged first as a party/event, later developing into a platform engaging 800+ alumni who share information, celebration each other, support the college in their various ways, network with current students, and of course turn up! Good ole relationship building, nostalgia and word of mouth has helped make this network strong. Mika’s alumni friends have been generous with their time and resources, supporting programming she’s created to bridge the networking gap between current students and alumni, to educate and support them. Mika has also worked with nonprofits such as 51 Way, Art Meso and Make a Wish Foundation. Giving back is essential to growth!

In 2018, Mika partnered with her sister, Davida, Owner of Kate Lynn & Adwoa, Shea Butter Beauty Brand, to conduct curated, luxury trips to Ghana, West Africa. Since then they have brought a plethora of travelers to Ghana, for a 7 day, 6 night vacation, sharing their rich culture and heritage with their guests through experiences, art, cuisine, music, and architecture. This venture has brought Mika and Davida so much fulfillment, being able to bridge the diaspora, introducing people to Ghana in a way they never expected, and investing in the Ghanaian economy through their work. Mika’s waistband company, Waisted by Mika, was born as a result of her sharing her Ghanaian heritage and her effort to empower women to love and celebrate their bodies with the adornment of waistbands.

MVP was renamed to ELLE-ite Event Consulting after the birth of her daughter, Gabrielle (aka Elle), who is the first of her two daughters (Serena).

When Mika is taking a break from hands-on parenting and event planning, she enjoys mentoring young ladies, traveling the world, reading, watching movies, and spending time with her family and best friends.
